Favorite referencing style
APA because I am familiar with the style and it flows well for me!
Why I became an editor
I studied psychology at university and fell in love with academia. The world of research draws me in, and I love nothing more than getting lost in it. I was published as a second author whilst still at university.
I have been teaching English as a foreign language for the last few years, which has led me to develop a more specialised interest in the way we express ourselves through speech and writing.
Background and experience
I worked as a higher education support worker within disability services at university. This involved proofreading documents across all subject areas, with a particular focus on social work and law.
I am certified as an ESL teacher, which involves proofreading and editing work completed by my students.
Why I love proofreading and editing
I love to see how even the smallest change allows a piece of work to grow. I particularly enjoy proofreading academic work and have a strong interest in critical psychology. I am experienced in APA referencing and have used this extensively in my own writing and research.
Most of all, I put my heart and energy into every single piece that I review.
Favorite book:
‘The Tin Drum’ by Gunter Grass.
Hobbies:
Travelling, reading, crafting, dancing!
Editing tips:
I like to take my time on a document by reading it a few times to get a sense of the author’s style and voice. Then I slowly work my way through it, noting any large changes before making them.
