Favorite referencing style
MLA is the referencing style that is the most familiar to me and comes the most naturally. However, all referencing styles have their nuances, and I really don't have a preferred style.
Why I became an editor
I have always had a passion for learning about language, and reading has always been a favorite pastime. I earned a certification in TESOL and went on to earn my bachelor's degree in education, but I have found that proofreading allows me to combine my passions for language, learning, and education into a rewarding and engaging profession.
Background and experience
After graduating from college, I freelanced as an ESL tutor in my local community. I have had several students through the years, and I've enjoyed various other work as well. However, I'm excited to apply my education and teaching experiences to proofreading.
Why I love proofreading and editing
Getting to read diverse and unique writing is exciting and engaging. I love to read about topics that are new to me or different from my personal life experience. I feel that reading is an excellent way to grow in our understanding of the world around us and to expand our knowledge.
Favorite book:
Endurance by Alfred Lansing is my favorite book.
Hobbies:
I love to spend time in the mountains. When I have a spare moment, I am usually somewhere enjoying the beauty of nature.
Editing tips:
I prefer to read through a document before making any changes. I feel that my edits are more accurate when I have an initial understanding of the subject matter and flow of the writing.
