APA 7th edition is my favorite.
Why I became an editor
I studied English and Spanish at university, and then earned my Masters in speech therapy. This convinced me of the need for clear and concise communication.
I have prior proofreading experience and I very much enjoy the challenge of helping others to hone their work.
Background and experience
I am a qualified speech and language therapist, and have also worked as a university teaching assistant in human communication sciences. I am also a trained TESOL teacher and have worked both as a teacher of English and Spanish. More recently, I have undertaken administrative work.
Why I love proofreading and editing
I enjoy the challenge of making documents read fluently and concisely. I particularly enjoy proofreading and editing in the fields of linguistics, literature, and psychology, as these intersect with my areas of expertise. I am experienced at using Harvard referencing, and am also well acquainted with APA.
Favorite book:
All the Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr.
Hobbies:
I have two budgies whom I'm trying to tame! I also enjoy card making, playing the piano, and horseback riding.
Editing tips:
If I come across sentences that do not sound right, I try reading them out loud. I also try to read the document through first to get a feeling for the author's voice.
