Favorite referencing style
APA is my favorite referencing style because I feel the most comfortable with it.
Why I became an editor
I had a wonderful English teacher at secondary school who encouraged me to read books of all genres with enthusiasm and intensity. She nurtured my passion for words and inspired me to write short stories. My love of reading and writing led me to enroll in a proofreading course. I now find that editing my work is as enjoyable as creating it!
Background and experience
I have worked in office administration and training new employees. My role was senior administrative assistant for a local council and I had to oversee the day-to-day running of four sections within the administration block. I also worked for a holiday company and was responsible for all administative duties as well as caring for the welfare of guests. My most recent work has been as a live-in caregiver helping people to be active at home by promoting independence.
Why I love proofreading and editing
It is rewarding to know that you have improved a piece of writing for a client. I enjoy proofreading blog articles and fiction, I’m confident in APA, and I am interested in history and nature.
Favorite book:
When God Was a Rabbit by Sarah Winman
Hobbies:
When I'm not proofreading, I can be found in the garden tending my precious shrubs. I also enjoy walking my six dogs every morning. Unfortunately, they don't realise how precious my shrubs are!
Editing tips:
If the document is a long one, I like to split it up into sections to concentrate on one section at a time. It doesn't feel overwhelming if I break it down.
