Favorite referencing style
I have a sentimental affinity for the AP stylebook. I was a journalism major before I switched to English and creative writing, and the AP stylebook was the first stylebook I sincerely studied to better my craft.
Why I became an editor
I have loved writing, editing, and proofreading since childhood and made my first book at the age of seven. Helping people better communicate their ideas through writing is a calling and a joy.
Background and experience
I've been writing, editing, and proofreading my whole life. I have experience with academic writing, nonfiction and fiction manuscripts, legal transcripts, and a wide variety of web content.
Why I love proofreading and editing
Proofreading and editing are immensely gratifying. It's a delight to see a piece become stronger, smoother, and clearer as I go through the pages. I love fine-tuning and helping people present their ideas, concepts, thoughts, and feelings as perfectly and accurately as possible.
Favorite book:
I read three or four books a week and don't think I could choose a single favorite. I love contemporary fiction, mysteries, historical fiction, biographies, and a variety of nonfiction.
Hobbies:
I have nine rescue dogs and a horse I adore. I also spend a lot of time swimming, snorkeling, boating, walking the deserted beach where I live, cooking, designing websites, and reading.
Editing tips:
Once I've skimmed the piece, I have an idea of the overall content and style. Then I go back through the document more slowly to focus on each word and punctuation mark for a perfect final draft.
