Favorite referencing style
My favorite referencing style is APA. I used it when I was studying psychology at university.
Why I became an editor
I was looking for a second career, and proofreading suits me. Completing the finishing touches for a document is highly gratifying. If I can help someone with the presentation of their work, I will be pleased.
Background and experience
I am the secretary of the board for my church. I take the minutes of our board meetings and I proofread documents as required.
My first job was with the International Civil Aviation Organization, which is part of the United Nations. I proofread technical documents, and I developed a keen eye for spotting errors. Later, I became an executive assistant in a corporation, and then I moved on to work as a legal secretary.
Why I love proofreading and editing
I love polishing a piece of writing so that there is nothing to detract from the author's message. I am particularly interested in proofreading and editing anything on theology, Christian life, and doctrine. I have many other areas of interest as well, including psychology, music, finance, mental health, and counseling.
Favorite book:
I like anything written by Louise Penny. She is a Canadian author who writes murder mysteries.
Hobbies:
When I'm not proofreading, I'm either reading, writing, or watching a comedy or murder mystery.
Editing tips:
Because consistency is key, I like to read through a document before I begin proofreading to get a sense of the author's style and notice any patterns in the writing.
