Favorite referencing style
My favorite referencing style is APA, since that's the one I'm most familiar with.
Why I became an editor
In my professional roles, I’ve often been the go-to person for editing and proofreading support. I have always loved the writing process, so these skills seemed to be a natural extension of who I am. Studies in creative writing and editing led me to complete formal training with the Proofreading Academy. I see writing as a dynamic journey of beginnings, explorations, and revisions, and I love supporting others to clearly express their message.
Background and experience
My professional background is in Arts Administration. I’ve created copy for, edited, and proofread content about artists and their methods, artist statements, biographies, CVs, artwork descriptions, website and social media copy, blog posts, client communications, applications and proposals for awards and community-based arts opportunities, administrative documents, programming information, and mission and vision statements.
Why I love proofreading and editing
I love tidying up a piece of writing and refining it down to its key message. Like polishing a piece of jewelry, the essence of the writing really shines through with a little added attention and care.
Favorite book:
Writing Down the Bones by Natalie Goldberg
Hobbies:
When I’m not proofreading, I can be found making art, soaking in the natural world, or spending time with my loved ones.
Editing tips:
Always do the final review of your document after a good night's sleep. Fresh eyes and an alert mind will help to catch any errors that would easily slip by at the end of your workday.
