“I always want to keep learning. I love reading, especially anything related to history, and take satisfaction in spotting errors, which inspired me to take up proofreading. ”

Favorite referencing style

APA because it is the one I have the most experience with, and it is the most common.

Why I became an editor

I still love reading and feel great satisfaction when I spot an error in something. The English language fascinates me. It is so complex with the grammar and idioms, and I am so grateful that it’s my first language!

I recently completed a 120-hour TEFL course, which was thoroughly enjoyable. Learning about nouns, grammar and tenses proved that I am always learning.
I want to become an editor, as I would like to contribute to making someone's writing read more fluently and improve the overall text.

Background and experience

I work in an office for a theatrical sound company. My job entails administrative and accounting work.

Why I love proofreading and editing

I would like to be a part of helping people create manuscripts ready for publishing.
To fine-tune their work to enhance the readability by proofreading and editing gives me great satisfaction.

Favorite book:

I have read all the Game of Thrones books over the last three years. Over lockdown, I read Philippa Gregory's 15 books in her Tudor series. I am now eager to read as much as I can on the Tudor history.

Hobbies:

I enjoy reading immensely and make myself read at least one chapter per day. What I absolutely love doing, but requires so much time and money, is travelling. I have many countries on my bucket list.

Editing tips:

I first skim-read the text to familiarise myself with the style and content. If it is a short document, I print it out, mark any obvious errors and make notes on the paper.
