After completing two degrees that required it, APA feels like a part of me.
Why I became an editor
I've always loved stories. Psychology taught me about the stories we tell ourselves, while communication showed me how to craft stories for others. Proofreading brings those ideas together. Whether the subject is fictional or academic, I want to help you tell your best story.
Background and experience
In college and grad school, I had classes and internships on writing and editing. Currently, I work as a technical editor, proofreading documents to ensure readability, clarity, and professional style.
Why I love proofreading and editing
I enjoy making writing more accessible while preserving the author's unique voice. This minimizes misunderstandings and encourages a deeper connection with the audience.
Favorite book:
A Face Like Glass by Frances Hardinge has the most delightfully bizarre descriptions I've ever read. It’s truly an immersive and fantastical experience.
Hobbies:
I love reading, writing, and taking nature walks. I don't love cooking, but as long as I don't set something on fire, I consider the meal a success.
Editing tips:
Taking a break is the most powerful tool for writing and editing. Rereading too soon or too much will only blind you to mistakes.
