Favorite referencing style
Since I used it at university and am most familiar with it, I prefer the APA referencing style.
Why I became an editor
I enjoy doing work that benefits others. I studied nursing at university and worked as a nurse for many years before devoting all my time to homeschooling my children. Eventually, I discovered an opportunity to work as a freelance proofreader and I couldn't turn it down. I love the world of words and have a keen eye for errors. Proofreading and editing are perfect for me.
Background and experience
During my nursing career, I've worked in the neonatal intensive care unit, the pediatric operating room, inpatient psychiatry, and maternal–child health. As a homeschooling mom, I teach my children a literature-based curriculum, and my love of books grows as I study and read on my own. I've completed two proofreading courses with distinction. I'm a lifelong learner and look forward to putting my skills as a proofreader and editor to use.
Why I love proofreading and editing
Proofreading is a rewarding task because it improves the quality of others' work and elevates the written word to a higher level of excellence. I have a strong background in the health sciences and am fluent in medical terminology. History, theology, creative writing, psychology, and children's literature are some of my other interests.
Favorite book:
I love Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte.
Hobbies:
I love to go for walks, paddleboard, and get cozy with a good book and a cup of tea.
Editing tips:
I have a checklist to go through before I start proofreading a document to make sure nothing is overlooked. This is a vital tip before digging in!
