Favorite referencing style
APA is my favorite referencing style because it is the one I am most familiar with.
Why I became an editor
Reading has been my favorite hobby since childhood, and many topics interest me. While I majored in molecular and cellular biology and went on to become a pediatrician, I enjoy history, literature, and learning other languages as well. One of my favorite extra-curricular activities in college was helping international students to improve their conversational English.
Being an editor/proofreader enables me to read about a wide variety of subjects while simultaneously helping others to improve their writing.
Background and experience
I worked as a pediatrician for four years.
In 2020, I completed Proofreading Academy's Becoming A Proofreader course and passed my final assignment with distinction.
Why I love proofreading and editing
Proofreading appeals to my perfectionist soul, and I enjoy helping writers to make their writing the best it can be so readers can appreciate writers' thoughts and creativity and not be distracted by errors in grammar and punctuation.
Favorite book:
I don't have a single favorite book. Some of my favorites include J K Rowling's Harry Potter series, J R R Tolkien's Lord of the Rings trilogy, and Agatha Christie's Marple and Poirot mysteries.
Hobbies:
When I'm not proofreading, I enjoy reading, dancing, baking, listening to music, playing games (both board games and games on my phone), traveling (although not during the current COVID-19 pandemic), and watching movies.
Editing tips:
I like to read through a document completely before making any changes. This allows me to have a sense of the author's style and see how the parts of the work fit together as a whole.
