Favorite referencing style
My favorite reference style is APA because that is the one I have practiced the most during the Knowadays proofreading course.
Why I became an editor
During my career in marketing, I have written extensively for many different types of audiences, always with specific communication goals in mind. Whether marketing copy aimed at the general public, business documents targeted to a professional audience, or an article intended for a trade publication, I practice and preach the virtues of faultless, concise, and purposeful writing.
I am dedicated to applying my ardor and expertise to help others build credibility and get results through writing.
Background and experience
I have worked as a strategist and cross-functional team leader at numerous advertising agencies. Clients I have worked with include Bayer Consumer Care, Pfizer, and Gillette. More recently, I have served as a marketing specialist for start-up companies. I have also worked in the marketing research sector, where I employed digital research methodologies such as social media listening and online patient communities to help healthcare clients develop effective content and advertising strategies.
Why I love proofreading and editing
I enjoy proofreading because I enjoy reading and writing. I started writing short stories for my own personal pleasure during my grade school years and continued applying my skills into adulthood as a marketing professional. I found that I am also very adept at improving on other people's pieces of writing. I enjoy not only correcting grammar, punctuation, and spelling errors but also ensuring clarity, precision, and conciseness.
Favorite book:
The “Wolf Hall” trilogy by Hilary Mantel.
Hobbies:
I love reading for pleasure! I enjoy great films and television series as well. I am also an enthusiastic bicyclist, especially around Central Park, which offers me an excellent bike path near home.
Editing tips:
I begin any proofreading assignment by reading through the whole document without making any corrections. I do this to get a better understanding of the context as well as the author's purpose.
