Favorite referencing style
APA referencing is my favourite style. While it is not the easiest of referencing types, it provides detailed rules and guidelines.
Why I became an editor
Training as a teacher over 10 years ago, I was able to combine my love of the English language with education. Teaching students the importance of grammar and content to successfully communicate meaning led me to an interest in proofreading.
Background and experience
Within my previous roles in education, I proofread and edited documents for publication in both journals and websites. Other experience includes editing content in letters, educational reports and school brochures.
Why I love proofreading and editing
I love being a part of the writing process and being able to support both individuals and companies in creating texts that successfully communicate their message. I particularly enjoy editing work related to history, art and education. I have experience in Harvard referencing, having used it in my own dissertation. I also have an understanding of APA.
Favorite book:
The End of Mr Y by Scarlett Thomas.
Hobbies:
When I am not proofreading, you'll find me in my kitchen, where I love to cook and bake. I also enjoy taking my two dogs for long walks in the countryside and then warming up with a good book by the fire.
Editing tips:
I like to read the document through first so I can gain an understanding of the content and the intended style of writing. It is important to me that I preserve both meaning and tone of a text.
