Favorite referencing style

APA is my favorite, as the citations flow nicely in the text.

Why I became an editor

For me, proofreading pulls together several threads in my life: a background in language and linguistics, a recent return to academia where I have honed my essay writing and referencing skills, a love of reading, and an inability to read a book without noticing any errors!

Background and experience

I studied French and Spanish at university and learned Italian from my Sardinian husband. I taught English as a foreign language in Spain before returning to the UK where I worked as an administrator, tourist information assistant, dyslexia support worker, and volunteer translator for Bristol Link with Nicaragua. I currently work as a library assistant in Bristol's public libraries alongside raising my family, and I recently returned to university to study for a postgraduate diploma.

Why I love proofreading and editing

I love helping an author to have the best success at reaching their audience. You have the story to tell, I want to help you tell it. Due to my background in learning foreign languages, I am drawn to proofreading texts written in English by non-native speakers. I am experienced in academic referencing, particularly Harvard and APA.

Favorite book:

A thousand splendid suns by Khaled Hosseini is my favorite book.

Hobbies:

I love hanging out with my family, gardening, and singing in the choir. In my more adventurous moments, you might see me swimming or freewheeling down hills on my bike!

Editing tips:

After the first proofread, I come back to it after a break, which allows me to see anything I've missed.
