Favorite referencing style
MLA is my favorite because I think its citations are less obtrusive than some other styles.
Why I became an editor
After completing my BA in the humanities, I went on to study for a Creative Writing MA, spurred on by my love for literature and my desire for creativity. One of my key tasks throughout the year was to provide feedback on the work of my peers, and I thoroughly enjoyed the reciprocal process of sharing writing. I decided to combine my own creative writing pursuits after graduation alongside my passion for proofreading.
Background and experience
I worked as an editor while studying for my MA, and I have prior experience in proofreading as well.
Why I love proofreading and editing
I have always been fascinated by language, and I know that even minor errors can distract massively from a piece of writing. I was privileged to be consistently praised by tutors for the clarity and fluency of my writing in my essays and dissertation over the last four years. In doing so, I also gained a great deal of experience with various referencing styles, particularly APA, MLA, and Harvard.
Favorite book:
Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine by Gail Honeyman
Hobbies:
When I'm not proofreading, I'm either at the cinema, out at the pub with a friend, or going to a football match (if I can get tickets)!
Editing tips:
I always skim through a document before working on it and look up any unfamiliar terms. I also try not to make excessive corrections so that I don’t change the author’s intended meaning.
