Favorite referencing style
APA is my referencing style of choice, as it's what I'm using for my dissertation.
Why I became an editor
I've always been the person to point out grammatical errors on signs and posters, and proofreading lets me put my eye for detail to good use!
I'm currently studying for a PhD in International Development and spend most of my time writing through an academic lens. Proofreading allows me to share my expertise and give others more confidence in their writing.
Background and experience
Academic Tutor (English and Math) – Varsity Tutors
Primary Teacher – Kyiv International School
English Tutor – Oral Roberts University
Why I love proofreading and editing
I enjoy the process of taking a document from a final draft to a fully polished, error-free piece. I particularly appreciate the finer details of formatting and making sure reference lists are just right. I've lived and studied in both the United States and the United Kingdom, so I have a keen eye for catching the spelling differences between US and UK English.
Favorite book:
“Anne of Green Gables” by L.M. Montgomery
Hobbies:
I'm an avid baker and runner currently training for the Edinburgh marathon!
Editing tips:
Proofreading is a lot like baking – always read the recipe before you start! I make sure to read through each document and style sheet before I begin so I have an understanding of my client's needs.
