Favorite referencing style
APA is my favorite referencing style because it is commonly used in the fields that I enjoy reading about.
Why I became an editor
Writing and editing have been lifelong passions of mine. Words empower us to build worlds, express unique ideas, and create meaning. I believe that the right words can change lives.
For me, editing allows me to learn about new subjects and ideas. I can do this while helping others make sure that their ideas are communicated effectively.
Background and experience
I've held many roles in my life. I've been a police officer, financial advisor, recruiter, and entrepreneur. In every one of my roles, written communication was paramount to my success. I've taken this life experience and combined it with my love of writing and editing.
Why I love proofreading and editing
There is nothing more satisfying than being able to have a part in creating a flawless piece of writing. I enjoy proofreading well-researched pieces of work on behavioral psychology, history, criminal law, sociology, and fiction.
Favorite book:
The Long and Faraway Gone by Lou Berney
Hobbies:
When I'm not proofreading, I'm most likely working on a piece of fiction or watching a comedy.
Editing tips:
I find that reading a piece of work as if you wrote it yourself is helpful. This is a simple concept, but it allows me to get a sense of the author's voice. Once I have a good idea of the author's style, I can then make appropriate recommendations and edits.
