Favorite referencing style
My favorite referencing style is APA because I used it when I studied at university.
Why I became an editor
I find it satisfying to polish a document and help a person’s ideas get out into the world. I enjoy learning about how our language works, and I was able to complete my A Level in English language two years early. I enjoyed writing essays for exams and coursework at school, and this continued throughout my years at university. I’m excited to use my skills on a variety of documents and use my passion for something meaningful.
Background and experience
I have proofread and edited throughout my career, including academic essays, reports, training resources, and marketing materials.
Why I love proofreading and editing
Proofreading and appropriate editing allows a piece of writing to be valued for its content, and I love helping to make that happen! Authors are able to get their ideas out to readers in a clear, concise, error-free way, while assisting consumers in learning or enjoying something they otherwise may not take seriously. It can be the difference between a reader either acting upon or discarding information. I love the difference that great writing can make—it holds power.
Favorite book:
I have a whole list of favorite books, but one that I always recommend is The Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafón.
Hobbies:
When I'm not proofreading, I'm usually spending time with my family (my partner, our two children, and our dog, Gatsby) reading, and seeing friends.
Editing tips:
I use my checklist to remind myself of any areas that could have been missed.
