Why I became an editor
I was the IT project manager and security consultant in my previous job. As part of the job, I was also involved in editing and formatting various documents, presentations, reports, and communications. During this tenure, I realized my penchant for editing, proofreading, and formatting services. After 15 years of IT experience, I decided to make a change, and proofreading perfectly suited me. To further hone my skills, I acquired the necessary credentials in editing and proofreading.
Background and experience
I have extensive experience in editing and formatting the whole gamut of IT documents, including sales presentations, proposals, design documents, security policies and procedures, user manuals, operational reports, and solution center presentations. As part of overseas assignments, I have worked in the US and Australia for around two years. I have good communication and analytical skills and have worked with extensive features of Microsoft Office.
Why I love proofreading and editing
I loved proofreading in my younger days, as I believed I had an innate ability to find and correct errors in writing. In my previous job, I thoroughly enjoyed editing my teams' documents and reports, as it gave me the contentment of helping them deliver an effective and error-free output. I also have a specific interest in editing works on history, movies, advertising, and marketing.
Favorite book:
The 7 Habits Of Highly Effective People by Stephen R. Covey is my favorite book.
Hobbies:
I enjoy playing with my kids, watching movies, and traveling.
Editing tips:
Determine the document type and audience, proofread multiple times while focusing on something different for each round, and read the text aloud once.
