Why I became an editor
Experienced authors mentored me, and from that l wrote a book and launched a magazine. I brought in articles from different writers. I edited the stories, gave feedback to the authors in terms of their writing styles.
My exploits led me to a collaborated work with 50 women. Together we wrote a Devotional and launched it in Feb 2020. I also attend online writing workshops regularly, where we discuss our work and storytelling styles.
I prefer a mixture of action and meaning because l believe a story should not only be a narration of words or description of the past, the present and the future events. It has to convey meaning and inspire its readers.
I have gradually worked my way up, and I am a freelance proofreader and editor at Proofed.
Background and experience
My background and experience date back to 2015 when the Magazine & the Book were just ideas. This is where the passion for proofreading and editing started.
Why I love proofreading and editing
For me, proofreading and editing are a necessary evil to every written work. In fact, every work needs our services, i.e., letters, business communications, books, academic work, you name it. I enjoy getting involved in other people's thought patterns. My interest was in both fiction and non-fiction books, but I have grown to like academic work. I am experienced in the UK, US, and Canadian English.
Favorite book:
I have read many books, and currently, my favourite is The Magic by Rhonda Byrne.
Hobbies:
When I am not proofreading, I cook, spend time with my family, write, or catch up on social platforms.
Editing tips:
When I get a document, I save it before reading it over two times. The third time around, I proofread and edit it line by line. I aim at preserving the author's voice.
