Why I became an editor
I love reading and it is central to who I am. Having studied literature at university, and following a period in bookselling, proofreading and editing seemed like the logical progression career-wise. I love the idea of using my experience as a critical reader professionally.
Background and experience
I spent 16 years working in the bookselling trade, both in the United Kingdom and Ireland. My editing experience started with my training at Proofreading Academy and a role at Proofed.
Why I love proofreading and editing
I most love the attention to detail that proofreading requires and the way that by applying this I can play a small but important role in the production of an article, book, or essay.
Favorite book:
East of Eden by John Steinbeck
Hobbies:
When not proofreading, my favourite activities are birdwatching, walking, and reading for fun!
Editing tips:
Before I do anything else, I make sure that I won't be distracted and can give the work the attention and time it needs, rather than having to rush it.
