5 Signs You Should Invest In Proofreading
When you have just finished writing an essay, the last thing anyone ever wants to do is sit down and read it again. But do you really need to?
You could always get a friend to look at it for you, run the spellchecker (though this won’t pick up all the errors), or hire a professional. Here are some signs that you might need to do one of the above.
1. Missed Errors
Your work constantly comes back to you marked down for little grammatical errors. Even if your ideas are the most original the marker has ever read, they won’t be able to give you a perfect grade if there are a lot of mistakes in the writing.
As much as 10% of the final grade for an essay can be awarded based on the level of English, which could make the crucial difference between passing and failing.
2. Handing In Your Work Late
Let’s face it: proofreading your own work is boring and takes a long time. It’s also really hard to spot all of the errors if you are the one who wrote the work originally.
Save yourself some time by getting a proofreader to look at it for you. We can do this in under a day, provided your work isn’t over 10,000 words.

3. Overshooting Word Limits
It’s actually much harder to say something in a few words then it is to waffle on and on. But you won’t get marks for pointless chatter, so proofreading can be a great way to tighten up your work.
A good proofreader will point out any repetition and clear up redundancies, helping you to make your writing concise and to the point.
4. Vagueness
Another thing a proofreader can do is to help you clarify your arguments by rephrasing sentences so that they are clearer. Any areas where your meaning is unclear will also be pointed out to you, allowing you to go back and address these issues.
5. Professionalism
If your work is for business purposes, you may find that having a proofreader look over your copy will give it a professional touch. 59% of people say that they are put off by spelling or grammar mistakes in promotional material. Make sure that your text is perfect!
