Why I became an editor
I had excelled in high school and college English and language arts classes, and I became an editor because it was an extension of my natural talents.
Background and experience
From 1995 to 2003, I loved my job at a suburban Seattle daily newspaper, where I had worked my way up from obituary writer to copy editor. After that, from 2007 to 2021, I worked in local government, where I did quite a bit of editing in my roles. I am now excited to return to proofreading and copy editing.
Why I love proofreading and editing
I enjoy proofreading and editing any type of work that is put in front of me, whether fiction or nonfiction and in any subject matter. I benefit by learning from what I read, and I feel that my editing can help a written piece become even better.
Favorite book:
Les Miserables by Victor Hugo. This is my favorite book and also my favorite theatrical musical.
Hobbies:
I love cooking with my husband, going on walks with our dog, Rylan, and spending time with our combined six children.
Editing tips:
When editing, I take several passes through a document to make sure that I haven't missed any errors.
