BA in Dental Medicine and Oral Surgery Alexandria University 2003–2008
The 11th edition of the American Medical Association (AMA) is my favorite.
During dental school, I collaborated with my professors to develop departmental objectives on standards of education. Later, I helped draft patient education material when I was training at a dental office. These experiences helped me learn that I could leave my mark in health care by develoing excellent medical content that helps improve the knowledge and clinical practice of healthcare providers and ultimately improve the lives of patients.
As a freelance medical writer and editor, I edited statement of purpose for students and transcripts on oncology. As a student at UC San Diego, I edited an abstract in the British Medical Journal, learned the AMA, APA, NLM, and Chicago Styles, learned how to apply medical writing and editing in the real world, enhanced my research skills on Pubmed, used reference management software, and studied real-world evidence.
Helping others improve their quality of writing gives me a great sense of satisfaction. I enjoy proofreading on topics of dentistry, immunology, and infectious diseases most. I am confident with using the AMA manual of style, and I love perfecting other health care providers' documents!
