APA because I have used it before while writing university essays and my final theses.

Why I became an editor

I studied psychology at university, and to this day, I'm fascinated with human behaviour and mental health. However, I realised fairly quickly that I'm more interested in reading about and researching such topics than actually treating people.

My passion for reading doesn't end with academic texts, though. I have always been in love with fiction (especially LGBT fiction) and language in general. Add my introverted nature and perfectionism, and here we are.

Proofreading and editing give me a chance to marry my personal interests with my natural abilities and professional skills. And if I can help others improve their work through all this, truly, it's a dream come true.

Background and experience

I have been the one-man editorial board of my own literary/art magazine for the past three years, so I'm used to working with clients presenting various levels of skills and styles. My passion for the editorial process prompted me to start proofreading and editing professionally, and this is why I'm here now: to begin the journey.

Why I love proofreading and editing

I have to be honest, I'm a serious perfectionist. Nothing bothers me more than spotting spelling or grammatical errors while reading a book or article. I love that proofreading gives me a chance to fix exactly these little flaws.

I'm also deeply interested in language and literature. Polishing a sentence until it reaches its full potential isn't only essential, it's also greatly satisfying.

I'm comfortable working both on fiction and non-fiction pieces.

Hobbies:

When I'm not proofreading, I'm reading (and trying really hard not to be an editor!), watching movies, or taking huge walks with my little sausage dog.

Editing tips:

At first, I read the whole document without changing or fixing anything to get familiar with the style and voice of the author. Then, I progress from paragraph to paragraph, clearing up the text little by little. Before I deem the work finished, I read the text one more time, from beginning to end, to see if it really feels coherent and flawless.
